I love the tropics in December. Even though winter hasn’t even begun, officially, a week or so below the Tropic of Cancer in the last month of the year somehow makes the upcoming dark, damp, short, grey days of Portland go by more quickly and more bearable. So when our friends James and Nicole invited us to their Sayulita wedding, it was a done deal.
The knot was tied at the south end of Sayulita on a beach called Playa de Los Muertos, or, Beach of the Dead. Not a reference to one’s pre-marital life, or even Jerry Garcia. You have to walk through a cemetary, a really cool under the jungle canopy cool only as Mexicans can make it cool cemetary, to get to the beach.
James gathers his final thoughts as a single man.
Guests Corky and Sara in their Mexican best.
James and Nicole look on as James’s daughter reads during the ceremony. She held it together.
Now it’s time for golf, whale-watching, snorkeling, more golf, some sea-kayaking, and maybe a margarita or two.
Stay Tuned,
Mateo Zaffino

what a lovely wedding! I wish we could marry in one of those gorgeous Riviera Nayarit Hotels. Actually, with the many Deals Destinations travel agencies offer, the trip is pretty affordable. Ohh… Fireworks, the sea, the sky at dawn… it’s a dreamed wedding!
